Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented  Funeral Service Operator  to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating cremation equipment, ensuring the respectful handling of remains, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role requires a strong commitment to providing dignified service to families during their time of loss.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain cremation equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare documentation of remains for cremation, including identification verification and proper handling. Conduct cremations in a respectful and professional manner, adhering to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of cremation services and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  •  Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of crematory equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with funeral home staff to coordinate services and ensure seamless experience for families.
  • Assist with transfer of casket into funeral building
  • Transfer cremated remains into urns and place urns in niches when needed.
  • Maintain repair and maintenance of building such as masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting.
  • Perform sundry duties will be required. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in mortuary science or related field is a plus.
  • Must be state-certified within one year of employment 
  • Clean drivers license 
  • Previous experience in a crematory or funeral home setting preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs as needed.
  •  Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
