We're looking for an experienced, motivated and disciplined Community Support Specialist to join our growing team!

Role: Affordable Housing Community Support Specialist, Buffalo Region.
Compensation: $55,000 - $64,000 annually based on experience, salary exempt.

Essential Functions:

Onboarding:
  • Works in collaboration with Human Resources and Director of Housing in onboarding new site staff. 
  • Ensures new employees are equipped with necessary tools and supplies to perform essential functions of role.
  • Acts as a liaison between regional/area managers and employees, ensuring onboarding checkpoints are met and evaluations are completed in a timely manner.


Training:

  • Assists in training new employees on company software and procedures.
  • Assists employees with basic operational questions or directs them to other staff as applicable.
  • Works with employees to ensure timely completion of all required training.
  • Helps with administration of RealPage, including the LMS, under supervision of Director of Housing.
  • Trains staff to manage resident functions in order to maintain respect and goodwill of all.
  • Works to facilitate and promote safety training, emergency procedures protocols and a “safety first” culture.


Site Operations:

  • Makes site visits assisting employees with recertifications, leasing, office management and special projects.
  • Acts as interim Community Manager at sites with vacancies due to turnover or vacation.
  • Assists site staff ensuring all customer complaints are handled promptly and appropriately.
  • Assists in new property acquisitions and lease-ups.
  • Assists regional/area managers in new office set up.
  • Ensures consistent, respectful and professional communications to all.
  • Effectively, respectfully, and professionally partners with all staff at all times.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Daily travel to various apartment communities, primarily in the Buffalo region.
  • Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; requires ability to problem-solve; requires a high level of organization and prioritization skills.
  • Requires ability to maintain confidentiality of information received.
  • Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, conflict resolution, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and have the ability to effectively navigate the Internet.
  • Must be experienced in OneSite property management software.
  • Knowledge of financial operations and budgeting required.
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule and remain available for property emergencies.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and NYS vehicle insurance.
  • Required use of personal cell phone.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and commits to promoting company mission, values and culture.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Affordable Housing management preferred.
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) preferred.
  • C3P Tax Credit and LIHTC certification preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience of RealPage OneSite experience required.
